Wow. Just wow. So Amber just got a call from Luc's teacher a little bit ago and she said that "your son has to be the sweetest kid I have ever met". The story goes that Luc's class has had a speaker this week talking about AIDS and how it has affected the world, as well as research being done, etc. He is in the GT (gifted/talented) class and they get to hear and discuss some pretty big topics from time to time that the average 8th grader may not get the chance to. Anyway, the kids all wanted to put together a donation to give to the organization that this speaker belongs to. I think there was mention of a couple of dollars per kid kind of thing. It was all the kids doing and we never heard about it until after the fact.

That was the background...now back to me getting choked up. So the teacher called and told Amber that Luc just turned in an unmarked white envelope that he had put 51 dollars into... he thought he had slipped it by without anyone noticing but Miss A (his GT teach) knew immediately that it came from him. It was all the birthday cash he had received just a week ago when he turned 14. Now that's not all he got for his birthday but that was all the cash he received and I have a sneaking suspicion that he would have tried turning over a gift card or two had she let him...

She just wanted to call and tell us how kind and sweet his gesture was. She also said that Luc was incredibly well thought of by both his classmates and teachers alike. I am not surprised, he is well thought of by us as well.

Sorry for getting all mushy on ya. Just wanted to tell someone about my incredible son. I probably goofed up some of the details because it was Amber that took the call, but you can get her to elaborate. ;]

Would you have done that at 14? I wouldn't have. Wow.

By the way... he doesnt know that we know. And now you know. So Shhhh.
